Youth Fitness Programming

October 1st marks the start of the Youth Fitness class schedule for children ages 5 through 12. Monday is Ballet Basics where students stretch and dance to learn the foundations of ballet.  The class is fun for all levels of dancers.  This class is recommended for boys and girls ages 5 to 8.  J.I.F. - Jump into Fitness - is offered on Tuesday for both 5 to 7 year olds and a more advanced class for 8 to 12 year olds.  Jumping rope improves cardio endurance, builds core strength and increases eye, hand and leg coordination.  Also on Tuesday is Skills and Drills for ages 5 to 7.  This class helps participants gain strength, balance and agility, an excellent preparation for future endeavors in sports and fitness.  Ages 8 through 12 can participate in cardio and strength circuits on Wednesday during Power Hour using BOSU and stability balls, medecine balls and steps.  Youth Yoga is offered on Thursdays.  An introductory class is taught in a playful, lighthearted spirit for 5 to 8 year olds, and a more advanced class, geared to developing strength, flexibility and coordination as well as deepening concentration and relaxation is available for ages 9 to 12.

These classes are available to Full Randolph YMCA members. For more information and specific times for Youth Fitness Programming contact Kathy Lamia at 973-366-1120 ext. 43.
